Can a Sake Brewer save a village from Extinction?

Koseki, a master sake brewer, has a new challenge on his hands. To transform Uyashinai, a remote ancient village, in to a thriving organic rice utopia. Koseki’s boss wants to use organic rice for his next sake and has appointed Koseki to convince the farmers of Uyashinai to grow it for them.

For Uyashinai, where only the elderly remain, this is their last chance to revive their village. But the farmers are too old and not interested in organic farming - they say it’s too risky and fear of losing their harvest if things go wrong.

Koseki realises he has to prove to them that organic is the future, and despite his lack of experience sets out to grow the organic rice himself. The film follows the drama between Koseki and the villagers and how they come to understand each other’s differences and the deeper meanings and sentiments behind growing rice.

The film is directed by Megumi Inman, edited by Azusa Yamazaki (editor of the Oscar-winning film, Drive My Car), executive produced by Andy Glynne and Anita Norfolk and is currently looking for distribution.
